Titel:

Information and Data Collection in Livestock Systems

Scientific Co-ordinator:

Aim of the Sub-project:

Electronic components are widely used in agriculture. In animal husbandry especially, they are often used to monitor and control processes. Unfortunately, most company software solutions are autonomous working systems and do not communicate with each other. This leads to repeated input of the same data into different programs and limited automated controlling of processes. Due to these problems there is a need to develop open software interfaces so that different technologies are able to transmit data between each other and easily communicate. In addition to defining interface standards, it is also important to harmonize data formats, data storage as well as data base management. The primary aim of this sub-project is to build an IT system, called Farming Cell, which collects, transmits and consolidates all data generated in the animal husbandry system. Furthermore, these data are then transformed into information, primarily to ensure traceability of animals as well as the products produced from them. Furthermore, sustainable production processes, with respect to animal welfare and environmental protection can be documented. An additional target is to advance communication methods between persons and computers through the use of speech recognition. This process of converting a speech signal into a sequence of words will increase the productivity of agricultural processes by enhancing work safety inside barns and production control.
